If you are trying to figure out a way solve the issue, you are just here in the right place. Here in this tutorial, we present a way of encoding Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II MXF video files to Apple ProRes 422 codec for working with FCP X flawlessly.
"Is there a way to go back to the previous version of Final Cut Pro X? I have serious issues editing Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II MXF footage in FCP X after the upgradation to macOS High Sierra and FCP X 10.4. FCP X won't import the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II MXF clips correctly, so they are totally unusable. How can I get a fix for this? Please help."
As far as I know, it is impossible to download older versions of FCP X from Apple, which is annoying in cases like this. Until Apple fixes this the only solution is to somehow transcode the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II MXF footage to another format (e.g. Apple ProRes Codec ) that FCP X will handle well.

Step 2: Click "Profile" to select AVI as output format for use in Pinnacle Studio. For a good editing performance, We would recommend choosing "HD Video" > "HD AVI Video(*.avi)" as target format.

If your computer is powerful enough to handle 4K files, you can choose "4K Video" > "4K AVI Video (*.avi)" as target format for Pinnacle Studio.

Tips: If necessary, you can click "Settings" button to modify video and audio parameters like encoder, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, aspect ratio, sample rate, and audio channels. You can also "Enable 3D Settings" to add 3D effect to your source media.

Step 3: Start file conversion for Pinnacle Studio. Click "Convert" to start Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II MXF to Pinnacle Studio conversion. As soon as the conversion is complete, click "Open Folder" to get the generated AVI files for editing in Pinnacle Studio with optimum performance. Hope it helps.
