Since updated to macOS High Sierra, lots of FCP X users have serious troubles dealing with MXF files from Canon PowerShot SX740 HS and other camcorders. Is there any possibilities to solve these problems? In this article, we explain a workaround to transcode Canon PowerShot SX740 HS MXF footage for easier use in Apple's Final Cut Pro X.
"Is there a way to go back to the previous version of Final Cut Pro X? I have serious issues editing Canon PowerShot SX740 HS MXF footage in FCP X after the upgradation to macOS High Sierra and FCP X 10.4. FCP X won't import the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS MXF clips correctly, so they are totally unusable. How can I get a fix for this? Please help."
As far as I know, it is impossible to download older versions of FCP X from Apple, which is annoying in cases like this. Until Apple fixes this the only solution is to somehow transcode the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS MXF footage to another format (e.g. Apple ProRes Codec ) that FCP X will handle well.

Step 2: Click "Profile" to select AVI as output format for use in Pinnacle Studio. For a good editing performance, We would recommend choosing "HD Video" > "HD AVI Video(*.avi)" as target format.

If your computer is powerful enough to handle 4K files, you can choose "4K Video" > "4K AVI Video (*.avi)" as target format for Pinnacle Studio.

Tips: If necessary, you can click "Settings" button to modify video and audio parameters like encoder, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, aspect ratio, sample rate, and audio channels. You can also "Enable 3D Settings" to add 3D effect to your source media.

Step 3: Start file conversion for Pinnacle Studio. Click "Convert" to start Canon PowerShot SX740 HS MXF to Pinnacle Studio conversion. As soon as the conversion is complete, click "Open Folder" to get the generated AVI files for editing in Pinnacle Studio with optimum performance. Hope it helps.
