"Hello, I have been editing with FCP 7.03 on my 2014 iMac running OS 10.10 for years. It's stable and works like a charm. I recently updated to High Sierra and downloaded the update to FCP X and Compressor. What a mess! FCP X is glitchy and I can't get my Nikon Coolpix P610 XDCAM footage importing to it. I've been doing lots of reading and others are having the same issues with macOS High Sierra. Does anyone know if it's possible to go through this issue?"
If for any reason you are unable to deal with Nikon Coolpix P610 XDCAM footage in FCP X, you are suggested converting the footage to ProRes 422 first. Here's a guide telling you how to do this.

Step 2: Click "Profile" to select "Final Cut Pro" > "Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)" as output format. Apple ProRes is FCP X's favorite editing codec, which FCP X will recognize and handle well.

Tips: If necessary, you can click "Settings" button to modify video and audio parameters like encoder, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, aspect ratio, sample rate, and audio channels. You can also "enable 3D Settings" to add 3D effect to your source media.

Step 3: Click "Convert" to start Nikon Coolpix P610 XDCAM files to ProRes conversion. As soon as the conversion is complete, click "Open Folder" to get the generated Apple ProRes files for editing in FCP X with optimum performance.
